Project Title: Architectural Elements

The visual inspiration behind this collection of multi-media samples originates from patterns, structure and colour found within city architecture. There are also subtle references to mid century design, through colour and material choices.

Natural fibres and reclaimed materials such as wool, hessian, bamboo and organic cotton have been selected for this collection to promote the use of materials which are more eco friendly. The collection comprises of a mixture of textile and surface design pieces which explore themes of repetition, structure and tactility.

These have been created through hand embellishment techniques, screen and digital printing and laser processes. This body of work is targeted towards a relaxing interior environment.

Here you can see a selection of some personal photography along with a few close up images of some of the collection pieces.

Project Title: Communication

This is an interior textile collection which gathers inspiration from different forms of communication such as braille, morse code and sound waves.

The notion of braille, which requires touch and interaction with a physical surface, lead me to consider the tactile/haptic qualities within textiles. The materials as well as surface techniques used for this collection have been carefully considered to try and provide a multi sensory experience. For example heavyweight wool felt has been used alongside flocked linen and laser engraved wood veneer.
